about

The Canadian Latinx* Theatre Artist Coalition (CALTAC) is a Vancouver-based service organization dedicated to furthering the Canadian Latinx theatre movement and unifying Latinx identified theatre artists. We engage in advocacy, create networks, and celebrate our community.

We recognize and embrace those who have been marginalized within Latinx communities such as Indigenous people, black people, women, people with disabilities, LGBTQAI2S+, and people with precarious status.

We invite community allies who have a desire to learn from and work with CALTAC to engage with us.

As members of the Latinx diaspora, we stand in solidarity with the Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island and recognize these nations recorded and unrecorded as the original caretakers of the lands on which we live and work.

* Our use of the word ‘Canadian’ indicates those living and working in Canada, regardless of citizenship, status, or national identity. We are aware that “Latin America” is a problematic, colonial term; when we say Latinx, we include those who identify as Afro-Latinx and who reject the term Latin America but identify as indigenous from the region that is referred to as “Latin America.”
